About

Stocking ThorpyFX pedals has honestly been a dream of mine, one of those brands I have really admired and hoped I could stock one day, and I'm so proud to say that has finally happened!

ThorpyFX is a family run business located in Brackley, England. The team is made up of Adrian and Georgia steering the boat. They've since been joined by a small team of designers (including Dan Coggins formerly of Lovetone fame), two full time in house pedal builders, a few PCB builders in house and remote, plus the lovely ladies who load enclosures, polish and shine ready to ship, and parcel up to head to your front door.

The Gunshot

The GUNSHOT was designed to be the overdrive to beat all others. Sonically most overdrives can sound thin or lack a certain “something” when compared to a real valve amplifier.  It’s an unfair comparison really, but it is possible to solve this problem. This is where the GUNSHOT comes in, at the heart of the pedal is a proprietary cascading "gain engine" tuned to deliver maximum tonality for as wide a range of amps as possible.  Through tweaking the pedals controls to taste you can achieve overdrive flavours from subtle through to searing, think slightly hairy blues to hard rock. The tones produced are addictive and inspiring in equal measure.

Aside from achieving fantastic sonic credentials the GUNSHOT is built like a tank with physical features such as recessed knobs and top mounted jacks.  Robust build does not have to come at the sacrifice of looks, the GUNSHOT uses a combination of a beautiful stainless steel laser etched centre console wrapped in a tough baseplate.

Specs/Power

Internally the pedal is immaculately built using premium 1% metalfilm resistors, Wima and Panasonic capacitors, Neutrik jacks and a Burr-Brown Opamp. These are the crème de la crème of the electronics world and when coupled with a robust gold plated PCB and dust sealed potentiometers the recipe is as good as it can possibly be.

This is sonically identical to the V1, the V2 version is smaller and can only be powered via 9V power supply.

Size: (W)65mm x(L)125mm x(H)53mm (top of Knobs)

Current Draw - 25mA
