Redbeard Effects - Hairy Squid - Colossal Fuzz

The Hairy Squid is the latest from the awesome Redbeard Effects and presents us with a straight forward, intuitive to use Fuzz with clipping options. Again, a collaboration between the company founders, Mikey Demus & Adrian Thorpe, the Hairy Squid received a soft launch at the 2023 Guitar Show here in the UK and whilst I was there exhibiting myself, I snapped up some for stock! Hand on heart, one of my favourite fuzz pedals I've plugged in to for a long time. Three distinctively different fuzz tones thanks to the clipping modes, but the tone and gain controls make such a big and incredibly useful difference to each clipping mode too. Very intuitive and interaction, and thankfully reacts very well to your guitar's volume and playing dynamics too. Fuzz is so so personal, but I can honestly say this is the best I've personally plugged into for a while and brought a big smile with every adjustments. Top work from The Redbeard and Thorpy team! I can say I haven't been influenced by hype either, as this pedal received a soft launch and I simply grabbed stock when I saw Mikey, my first time plugging it in was the first time hearing it, and what a great experience it was. 

Matching the same footprint/enclosure size as the rest of the Redbeard range, this time sporting a cool green casing and vibrant pint control knobs. The controls are straight forward and intuitive, something fuzz fans will appreciate, with a volume, tone and gain pot, finished up with a clipping option mini toggle. Here you can flick between Germanium,  Silicon diodes and LED clipping to provide three very differently voiced fuzz tones.
